Stellantis, a major automotive manufacturer with brands including Fiat, has officially announced a historic investment of R$ 30 billion in Brazil during a meeting with President Lula at the Planalto Palace.
This investment plan spans from 2025 to 2030 and will focus on new technologies, vehicle models, and job creation.
The meeting at the Planalto Palace was attended by automotive executives and federal government officials. During the event, executive Antonio Filosa outlined the key pillars of the company’s new strategic plan for the coming years.
The financial injection aims to solidify the company’s leadership position and accelerate innovation within the automotive market. This initiative is expected to strengthen Brazil’s manufacturing sector and enhance the technological capabilities of local production, as confirmed by Times Brasil.
For the current year, the company plans the immediate creation of 2,000 direct job positions across its factories. The majority of these new roles will be at the Betim plant, while Porto Real will receive 500 new professionals.
The Porto Real facility will become the production hub for the Jeep Avenger, a new SUV for the Brazilian market. This expansion is projected to generate approximately 20,000 indirect jobs within the supply chain.
Currently, about 95% of the components used in the company’s vehicle models are manufactured entirely in Brazil. The economic impact from direct purchases from national suppliers reaches an annual figure of R$ 60 billion.
The company also stands out for its commitment to inclusion, employing a significant number of Black workers and women. The strategy prioritizes the national production of parts over the use of imported kits for rapid assembly.
The meeting also marked the celebration of Fiat’s 50th anniversary in Brazil, recalling milestones such as the iconic Fiat 147. With this new investment, the government projects that the national market will rebound to sell 3 million cars in 2026.
The optimism in the sector is further fueled by government incentives, including the Mover program and tax reforms.
