Brasília prepares for the 2nd Coffee Farming Meeting of the Federal District and Ride, focused on boosting profitability and quality standards for specialty coffees in the region.
The federal capital will become the epicenter of coffee innovation on October 14. SebraeLab, located at the Parque Tecnológico de Brasília (Biotic), will host the 2nd Coffee Farming Meeting of the Federal District and Ride, a strategic event designed to transform small properties into high-productivity, value-added hubs.
Organized by Emater-DF in partnership with Embrapa Café, the initiative seeks to integrate the production ecosystem. The main goal is to discuss everything from sustainable crop management to refined post-harvest tactics, empowering farmers to meet the growing demands of the specialty coffee market.
Connecting productivity and regional development
With a cultivated area totaling 341 hectares in the Distrito Federal, local production is projected to reach 830 metric tons in 2025. The event acts as a catalyst to translate these numbers into real economic sustainability, encouraging the adoption of technology and good management practices.
The lineup is robust and includes panels on youth involvement in agriculture, in addition to offering a unique sensory experience with guided tastings of Arabica and Canephora varieties. The meeting is a vital opportunity for growers to exchange experiences and access guidance on the roasting market and direct sales.
Female leadership gains momentum
One of the highlights of the meeting is the formal establishment of the Planalto Central Subchapter of IWCA Brasil (International Women’s Coffee Alliance). Recent data from Emater-DF, Embrapa, and UnB confirm that women play a fundamental role, being present in 75% of the region’s coffee-growing areas.
Adriana Nascimento, an agronomist at Emater-DF, stated:
We have advanced in diagnosing our coffee sector and have begun to view it in an integrated way, from production and post-harvest to quality, roasting, and marketing.
The consolidation of this subchapter promises to further professionalize the support network for local female growers, strengthening women’s representation across the entire coffee production chain. Registration for the event is now open and can be completed online for those interested in shaping this promising future for Brazilian agriculture.
