Leandro Grass decentralizes his campaign in the Federal District with residential committees and proposes a new Social Rent program to lower the cost of living in the region.
The electoral race in the Federal District is taking on new contours with the decentralization strategy adopted by local tickets. Gubernatorial candidate Leandro Grass, affiliated with the Workers’ Party (PT), has begun setting up community committees directly in supporters’ homes, an initiative dubbed “Leandro and Lula Houses.” The first units are already operating in the administrative regions of Estrutural and Guará, serving as local bases for distributing campaign materials and mobilizing voters.
The move seeks to bring proposals closer to the population in the outskirts, prioritizing debates on essential services, housing, and the local economy. During a recent walk through Varjão, the politician detailed his guidelines to relieve pressure on the medical care network and mitigate the impact of inflation on family budgets in the Federal District.
Proposals for housing and public health
One of the central pillars presented by the candidate is the creation of the Social Rent program. The primary goal of the measure is to curb rising real estate prices and reduce the cost of living in the most vulnerable administrative regions, aligning with social housing policies.
It is house by house, street by street, block by block that we will win the elections. The idea is to transform Brasília into an affordable city, with low rents, cheaper food, and social housing. We will implement social rent in this region.
In addition to the housing agenda, public health was at the center of the discussions. The candidate pointed out flaws in the current administration, highlighting the shortage of medical teams in the Basic Health Units (UBS), such as the scenario found in Varjão, and promised to expand the staff of professionals to ensure adequate care for the community.
Next steps for mobilization
The grassroots strategy adopted by the campaign coordination envisions the continuous expansion of the support network through online registration for households interested in hosting the committees. Focusing on community partnerships, the agenda also includes institutional support for social projects run by churches and local entities.
The expectation for the coming days is that the group will intensify its street agenda, covering different satellite cities to consolidate the platform aligned with the federal government and broaden the dialogue with the electorate regarding energy transition, urban sustainability, and social justice in the Federal District.
