Street retail, shopping malls, and supermarkets in the Federal District are authorized to operate on the Nossa Senhora Aparecida holiday, following rules from collective labor agreements.
Consumers in the Federal District will have the option to shop on the upcoming national holiday of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, observed on Monday.
The opening of commercial establishments, including street shops, shopping centers, supermarkets, and pharmacies, has been confirmed and duly regulated.
The measure covers companies affiliated with local representative entities such as Sindivarejista-DF, Sindipel-DF, and Sindigêneros-DF.
Operations will extend to various retail segments, including stationery stores, butcher shops, produce markets, and flower shops.
This flexibility aims to boost the local economy during the festive date while ensuring compliance with current labor rights in the federal capital.
Labor Rules and Merchant Autonomy
The authorization for stores to open follows the parameters set forth by the Collective Labor Agreements (CCTs).
These guidelines were negotiated by Fecomércio-DF in conjunction with employers’ and workers’ unions.
The decision to open is at the discretion of each individual business owner.
Companies choosing to operate must strictly adhere to regulations concerning working hours and overtime pay.
Consumer Behavior and Cost-Saving Searches
The outlook for the holiday reflects a shift in the population’s consumption patterns.
Data from an annual survey conducted by SuperSim reveals that the vast majority of respondents intend to purchase gifts for the occasion.
Despite the intention to buy, the research indicates that consumers are reorganizing their budgets to curb spending and align expenses with household finances.
The survey found:
Although 91% of respondents plan to give gifts on the date, around 86% state they will alter their purchasing habits to make the expense fit their budget.
Given this, the study suggests that customer priorities involve choosing more affordable options, conducting pre-purchase price research, and favoring free activities during the holiday.
The liberalization of commerce emerges as an important incentive for the retail sector in the Federal District.
The expectation is that establishments will be able to attract a consumer base more attentive to prices.
With the sector adapted to the demands of labor agreements, the market seeks to balance the offering of services with the population’s new consumption demands.
