Rock in Rio lights up the sky with a sustainability message on Amazon Day.
The highly anticipated Rock in Rio festival, in its 2026 edition, promises an unforgettable experience that goes beyond music. In partnership with AXIA Energia, the event will celebrate Amazon Day with a drone show that will transform the sky over Cidade do Rock (Rock City) into a canvas for environmental awareness.
On the second day of the festival, September 5th, a stunning aerial display will narrate an engaging story about the importance of sustainability and each individual’s crucial role in environmental preservation. The initiative aims to inspire the audience to reflect on the impact of their actions and the significance of protecting the Amazon.
A Spectacle of Lights and Consciousness
The aerial show has been meticulously planned to blend iconic elements of Rock in Rio with powerful symbols of nature. The display will culminate in a special tribute to the donation of 15,000 saplings and 1 million seeds of native Brazilian species, a commitment from AXIA Energia to Rock in Rio Brasil 2026.
This generous donation has the potential for significant impact, anticipating the capture of approximately 428,000 tons of carbon from the atmosphere. This action will directly contribute to the reforestation of an area equivalent to 900 football fields, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to the complete decarbonization of the event experience, including attendee transportation.
Carbon Offset and Environmental Impact
The partnership with AXIA Energia aims to fully offset the estimated CO₂ emissions for the festival. Based on 2024 data, the goal is to offset around 50,000 tons of CO₂, comparable to removing 18,826 fossil fuel cars from circulation annually in Brazil.
The offset will be achieved through a strategic combination of carbon credits, renewable energy certificates, and the crucial planting of saplings. This multifaceted approach demonstrates a serious commitment to mitigating environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable future.
Rock in Rio’s Sustainable Future
The drone show at Rock in Rio 2026 is not just a visual spectacle but a powerful symbol of the festival’s growing commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness.
By uniting the power of music and the art of drones, the event positions itself as an agent of change, inspiring millions to become part of the solution to global climate challenges. AXIA Energia‘s initiative demonstrates how major events can lead by example, driving concrete actions for a greener planet.
