ABIAPE gains access to long-term BBCE data for energy price analysis.

The Brazilian Association of Self-Energy Producers (ABIAPE) has signed a major agreement with BBCE, an energy trading platform.

The partnership aims to strengthen the association’s market intelligence by granting access to the innovative BBCE Curva Forward tool.

This indicator, based on actual transactions, offers energy price projections with an impressive horizon of up to 21 years, promising to significantly enhance analysis for self-producers.

The initiative represents a substantial advancement in ABIAPE‘s access to crucial information for the free energy market.

The BBCE Curva Forward will consolidate data from effectively executed trades, providing a more accurate and reliable view of price formation across various sources, regions, and future delivery periods.

This data qualification will directly support ABIAPE‘s studies and advocacy on behalf of its members.

Enhanced Market Intelligence for Self-Producers

The BBCE Curva Forward stands out for its foundation in concrete business, capturing the price dynamics of contracts traded daily on the EHUB BBCE platform.

With a transaction volume that moves around BRL 90 billion annually, the indicator updates market references in real time.

The curve’s scope covers both short- and long-term contracts, extending up to two and a half decades into the future, and incorporates seasonal analyses essential for understanding price fluctuations.

Data from the BBCE Curva Forward includes variations tied to factors such as agricultural cycles, which directly impact the availability and cost of biomass-derived energy.

This wealth of detail has led several prominent institutions, including the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel), the Energy Research Office (EPE), and the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE), to use the indicator as a reference in their own analyses and projections.

Transparency as a Pillar for Energy Investments

For ABIAPE President Mario Menel, the agreement is a fundamental step toward qualifying the analyses and support offered to the association’s members.

Mario Menel stated:

Access to data and market references helps qualify our studies and analyses, supporting the association’s work for the benefit of its members.

The need to evaluate contracts and forecast long-term scenarios makes the availability of data originating from actual transactions a competitive differential for self-producer investors.

BBCE CEO Camila Batich highlighted the importance of transparency in driving investment in the sector.

Camila Batich stated:

Providing quality data that contributes to the development of the free market is a pillar of our work in favor of security, transparency, and liquidity. A market with clarity on price direction can invest with greater confidence and develop sustainably.

More than 200 companies already operate their assets and derivatives on the BBCE platform.

The Price Base Reflects Market Reality

BBCE Executive Director of Products and Institutional Relations Eduardo Rossetti pointed out that the authenticity of the negotiated transactions gives the Curva Forward a unique edge in the Brazilian scenario.

Eduardo Rossetti stated:

This benchmark is a competitive differentiator for Brazil, as it reflects contracts and operations actually traded. With it, investors, sellers, and buyers have an accurate picture for decision-making.

The tool allows for detailed monitoring of price formation, assisting in the structuring of contracting strategies and risk assessments.

The partnership between ABIAPE and BBCE strengthens the evidence base for studies on self-producers and the free energy market.

By connecting the association to a price reference built on the reality of negotiations, the agreement promises to deepen understanding of sector dynamics, driving more assertive decisions and the sustainable development of Brazil’s electricity matrix.
