Petrobras reached a historic milestone on B3 by surpassing R$ 700 billion in market value, driven by a new discovery off the coast of Amapá and advances in fossil energy production.
Petrobras closed last Friday’s trading session (2) reaching an unprecedented level in its history on the B3 stock exchange. The Brazilian state-owned company surpassed the barrier of R$ 700.08 billion in market value for the first time, adding an impressive R$ 20.9 billion in value during a single trading session.
This historic financial leap came alongside a crucial announcement for the oil and gas sector: the confirmation of a new oil find in ultra-deep waters in the Foz do Amazonas Basin. This momentum consolidates a phase of strong investor optimism regarding the company’s management and operational results.
Advances in the Equatorial Margin and new discoveries
The new discovery occurred at the Morpho exploratory well, located in block FZA-M-59, approximately 175 kilometers off the coast of Amapá. With a water depth of nearly 2,900 meters, this is the second positive finding in the same structure since the previous announcement made in August.
Originally acquired in the 11th Bidding Round of the ANP in 2013, the block represents the company’s bet on new exploratory frontiers. The primary goal is the replenishment of hydrocarbon reserves, ensuring the longevity of the country’s energy production in the face of global challenges regarding the transition to clean energy sources.
Operational performance and record valuation
The oil company’s shares immediately reflected market optimism. Preferred shares (PETR4) rose 2.81%, while common shares (PETR3) advanced 3.25%, even amid stable international Brent crude prices.
The exceptional performance reflects the success of our operational strategy, marked by consistent production growth, refining efficiency, and a focus on replenishing reserves for the country’s future.
Highlighted Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard, pointing out the factors underpinning the state-owned company’s fourth market value record in the year 2026.
While the energy transition market gains global momentum, the Brazilian state-owned company continues to expand its volumes. Daily production jumped from about 2.5 million barrels in the first quarter to nearly 3 million in September. In the first nine months of the year, the combined delivery of stock appreciation and dividend payouts surpassed major global competitors, such as ExxonMobil and Shell, consolidating a highly attractive scenario for shareholders.
