The mark of 950,183 electrified vehicles registered by August signals a moment of unprecedented acceleration for Brazilian sustainable mobility. With vigorous performance, August consolidated a new record for registrations, totaling 57,386 units, representing an expressive 22% share of the national automobile market.
This growth reflects a consistent shift in consumer behavior and automakers’ strategic planning. In the first eight months of 2026, 328,477 vehicles in this segment were sold, an impressive 160.5% jump compared to the numbers recorded in the same period of the previous cycle.
The Strength of Plug-in Models and the Market Landscape
The dominance of plug-in models is the main driver of this expansion. According to data from ABVE (Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association), these technologies accounted for over 83% of total sales last month. Notably, purely electric vehicles (BEVs) reached 27,166 registrations, while plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) totaled 20,535 units.
