The Ibovespa broke its historic 11-session winning streak on Thursday (03), while the dollar posted a slight decline, with eyes fixed on monetary policy signals from the United States.

The Brazilian financial market experienced a day of adjustments and caution this Thursday. After a rally that lasted over two weeks, Brazil’s benchmark stock index, the Ibovespa, closed the trading session with a marginal decline of 0.01%, ending at 185,188.13 points.

Although the index hit intraday highs of nearly 2%, selling pressure prevailed toward the end of the session, putting an end to the positive run.

In the currency market, the dollar followed a trend of weakness against other global currencies. The greenback closed the day at R$ 5.1045, a decrease of 0.08%.

This movement was driven by anticipation surrounding the payroll—the highly awaited U.S. jobs report—which will dictate the next moves of the Federal Reserve (Fed).

The positioning of Fed members regarding the possibility of interest rate stability, should inflation continue its cooling trajectory, has served as a key benchmark for the risk appetite of global investors.

As a direct result of these signals, Wall Street stocks maintained an upward trajectory, supported by the easing of pressure on United States government bonds.

Cleaning up the national financial system

Alongside the performance of the capital markets, the Brazilian banking system saw significant action from the Central Bank (BC). With the extrajudicial liquidation of Trustee Distribuidora and Banvox DTVM this Thursday, the year 2026 has reached a record high of 17 interventions since 2002.

Analysis of the situation points to a concentration of these actions around Banco Master. According to data verified by Times Brasil, there is a link in 11 of the 17 liquidation cases this year to the institution founded by Daniel Vorcaro.

This link ranges from direct control of the companies to business connections or investigations into specific operations involving the group.

The closure of these institutions signals a rigorous cleanup and oversight effort by the regulator, at a time when the local market seeks to balance global volatility with the specifics of the domestic scenario.
