São Paulo is hosting the CNN Talks Energia event on Thursday (24): Brazil Facing a New Market. The meeting brings together key leaders and specialists from the electricity sector to analyze profound changes in the national energy matrix, with a primary focus on ensuring competitiveness, supply security, and economic efficiency.

The energy event is officially opened by the network’s CEO, João Vitor Xavier, followed by a macroeconomic analysis presented by Luiz Augusto Barroso, chief executive of PSR, detailing the pathways and challenges of the transition to clean energy in the country.

Competitiveness and Costs for the Productive Sector

The first panel of the agenda, entitled “Competitiveness and the Vision of the Productive Sector,” highlights the weight of electricity in industrial and commercial costs. Debaters discuss how the opening and modernization of the system directly impact companies and final consumers, in addition to addressing regulatory stability.

Participating in this discussion block are Lucas Witzler, representing Ultragaz Energia Elétrica; Alexandre Nogueira, executive at Light; Márcia Cavallari, specialist from Ipsos; and Eduardo Rossi, from CCEE. The group analyzes the reflexes of the new trading rules for the national economy.

The second panel advances on “The Challenge of Operation in a Transforming Market,” addressing the growing technical complexity of the grid. The diversification of renewable sources demands deep adaptations in the coordination and strategic planning of the national electrical system.
