Febrava RIO innovates by directly connecting the HVAC-R sector to the challenges of crucial industries, promoting a dialogue focused on practical solutions for efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Next week will feature a fundamental meeting for the future of clean and sustainable energy in Brazil. From October 6 to 8, Riocentro will host Febrava RIO, an event that promises to redefine the relationship between the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) sector and the major industries that depend on its technologies. The initiative stands out with the unprecedented Febrava CONVERGE arena, a space dedicated to exploring the real operational challenges faced by sectors such as construction, hospitality, and oil and gas.
The core focus of this edition is directly addressing the specific needs of each industrial segment. The Febrava CONVERGE program was meticulously designed to present not only cutting-edge products and technologies, but, above all, applied knowledge that can optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure operational continuity. The goal is clear: to effectively bring HVAC-R solution developers closer to those who use them on a daily basis, fostering a valuable exchange for the advancement of the sector.
A Program Focused on Real Solutions
The Febrava CONVERGE arena will offer free access to specialists and executives to discuss how climate control, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems directly impact crucial aspects such as energy efficiency, food safety, indoor air quality, predictive maintenance, and overall building performance. The program is divided into four main verticals: Construction, Hospitality, Oil and Gas, and Refrigeration, ensuring that every professional finds relevant topics for their field of activity.
The debates will address highly relevant topics, such as the integration between architecture and HVAC-R in healthcare buildings, the complex operation and maintenance of systems in offshore facilities, microbiological control to ensure food safety, the choice and impact of refrigerants, the importance of the PMOC (Maintenance, Operation, and Control Plan), the pursuit of energy efficiency in high-performance buildings, and the implementation of retrofits and technologies aimed at reducing unplanned downtime.
Tatiana Rassini, general manager of Febrava RIO, stated:
The proposal of the Febrava CONVERGE arena is to bring HVAC-R into the heart of each industry’s challenges. We want industry professionals to find at Febrava RIO not only products and technologies, but also knowledge applied to the issues that impact their own operations, costs, efficiency, and continuity. It is a way to bridge the gap between those who develop the solutions and those who actually need them.
Over the course of three days, 17 panels will be held with the participation of heavyweight industry representatives, renowned experts, sector entities, and professionals with vast experience in various applications of HVAC-R. Access to CONVERGE is free for all professionals accredited at Febrava RIO, subject to capacity, reinforcing the event’s commitment to the dissemination of knowledge.
First Days: Focus on Construction, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Oil and Gas
The first day of the event, October 6, will open with discussions on how HVAC-R is intrinsically linked to performance and safety in various operations. The schedule kicks off with the panel “Designing to Care: Integration between Architecture and HVAC-R in Healthcare Buildings,” featuring Kátia Fugazza. Next, Marina Spagnolo will address crucial management aspects in “Contract Administration Applied to Performance Contracts.”
The oil and gas sector will take center stage with the panel “Good Practices for the Operation and Maintenance of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems in Petrobras Offshore Facilities,” featuring Petrobras experts such as Luiz Paulo Caldeira and Wagner Lemes. Hospitality will also be a central theme with “Why Does Mold Always Come Back? The 10 Commandments for a Mold-Free Hotel Operation,” presented by Robson Petroni.
Food safety and energy efficiency in the food industry will be debated in the panel “Natural Fluids in the Food Industry: Technical Challenges, Safety, and Energy Efficiency,” with Taís Pereira da Fonseca and Jonatha Silva Henriques. Closing the day, Filipe Colaço will discuss the impact of refrigerants in “Refrigerants: The Impact They Have on Your Operation.”
Safety, Industry, and Operational Performance in the Spotlight
October 7 will be dedicated to deepening discussions on food safety, microbiological control, energy efficiency, and operational continuity. Alex Ambrosio will present “Risk Management and Microbiological Control in Condensation Systems.” Luiz Villaça will introduce the “Presentation and Content of the Refrigeration Booklet in Food Safety.”
The vital relationship between HVAC-R and oil and gas industry operations will be explored in “From Comfort to Operational Continuity: The Role of HVAC-R in the Oil and Gas Industry,” with João Manuel Aureliano. Hospital engineering returns with the case study “Hospital 9 de Julho (Peixotinho), a Sui Generis Case of Hospital Engineering,” by Márcio Grossman. The day concludes with the panel “The Challenge of High-Performance Buildings: Energy Efficiency, Data Massification, and Operational Intelligence for Decision Making,” bringing together Marcello Esteves da Silva and Tiago Falcão da Silva.
Maintenance, Retrofit, and New Technologies for the Future
The final day of the event, October 8, will focus on maintenance, system performance, new technologies, and future prospects for HVAC-R. Filipe Colaço will start with the crucial topic of refrigerant maintenance. Izabela Silva Pereira will share “PMOC: Lessons from a Decade.”
The future of the sector will be widely discussed in the panel “ABRAVA and the Future of HVAC-R: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities,” with the participation of Rafael Munhoz, Luiz Villaça, and João Manuel Aureliano. Hospitality returns with “Hotel 24/7: Efficiency, Sustainability, and Intelligent Infrastructure Management,” presented by José Domingo Buozon.
The retrofit theme will be covered in “Magnetic Bearing Chillers in HVAC Retrofits,” with Edison Tito Guimarães. To wrap up the schedule, “The End of Unplanned Downtime: The Revolution in Industrial Descaling with Rydlyme” will bring together Alexandre Paiva and Julyana Fragoso, promising valuable insights for optimizing industrial processes.
Febrava RIO consolidates itself as an essential stage for knowledge exchange and business generation, driving the HVAC-R sector toward a more efficient, safe, and sustainable future. The event reinforces the importance of collaboration between manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users to face the complex challenges of today’s market.
