The CLDF has approved a supplementary credit of R$ 45.1 million for Sedes, guaranteeing the transfer of funds to social institutions and the continuity of services in the Federal District.

The Legislative Chamber of the Federal District has given the green light needed to relieve pressure on the capital’s support network for vulnerable populations. During an extraordinary session held this Wednesday (14), lawmakers approved Bill No. 2,492/2026 in two rounds, injecting R$ 45.1 million into the budget of the Secretariat of Social Development.

The primary objective of the funds is to settle financial pending issues with partner philanthropic entities. With the flow of transfers regularized, organizations that provide essential services to children, the elderly, and families in vulnerable situations will avoid the suspension of their daily activities in the region.

Guaranteeing Resources for the Social Assistance Network

The fast-track processing reflected the pressure faced by non-governmental organizations, which had been suffering from delays in agreement transfers. This capital injection acts as essential financial relief to maintain social projects managed by civil society in the Federal District.

During the floor discussions, the governing coalition and opposition lawmakers converged on the need to rescue the sector, although there were demands regarding the fiscal planning of the Government of the Federal District. The speed of the vote prevented the budget deficit from compromising care at assistance units.

The release of these funds is vital to ensure that the services provided to the most vulnerable families in our capital do not suffer dramatic interruptions due to a lack of financial management.

Next Steps and Impact on Public Management

With final approval by the local legislature, the text now heads to Governor Ibaneis Rocha, who has the prerogative to sign or veto the measure. The sector expects immediate sanction to accelerate the issuance of payment orders to registered entities.

The measure reinforces the importance of rigorous monitoring of the budget allocated to essential public policies. Stability in financial transfers ensures predictability for philanthropic institutions to plan their actions and expand the reach of the social protection network in the coming months.
