Celina Leão advocates for the expansion of the Cartão Creche (Daycare Card) and strengthening the protection network for women during a public event in Ceilândia, targeting the second round of elections in the Federal District.
The electoral race in the Federal District has gained a new focus on social policies and community infrastructure. At a public rally held at the Associação Casa de Apoio à Comunidade de Ceilândia (Acac – Ceilândia Community Support House Association), the governor and reelection candidate Celina Leão (PP) centered her campaign on early childhood development and women’s safety.
During the Children’s Day celebration, the local chief executive detailed proposals to ensure greater financial autonomy for single mothers and enhance support for victims of domestic violence. This strategy aims to solidify votes in the most populous administrative regions of the nation’s capital, capitalizing on a favorable position in voter intention polls.
Early Childhood Education and Financial Autonomy
One of the pillars presented by the campaign is the expansion of the Cartão Creche, a measure designed to alleviate demand for spots in the public school system and facilitate access to early childhood education. Coupled with this, the government plan includes offering vocational training courses specifically targeted at women raising children alone.
The decentralization of these services aims to create an ecosystem where professional qualification goes hand-in-hand with educational support for children. Through this initiative, the government hopes to integrate more women into the formal job market, reducing social vulnerability in peripheral areas.
Our priority is to ensure that no mother has to choose between working and caring for her children with safety and dignity.
Expansion of the Women’s Protection Network
Another central point of the agenda is the reinforcement of mechanisms to combat gender-based violence in the Federal District. The announced goal is to increase the number of public facilities dedicated exclusively to assisting and supporting women at risk from 14 to 31.
The plan includes strengthening already established initiatives such as Aluguel Social (Social Rent Assistance), the Viva Flor program, Províd, Copom Mulher, and the digital tool Mulher Segura DF (Safe Woman DF). Integrating these services aims to create a more effective barrier against domestic violence.
From a political standpoint, this move occurs amidst an advantageous scenario in voter intention polls. Recent surveys by Quaest and Datafolha institutes indicate the candidate’s lead in the second-round contest, with 61.5% of valid votes registered in the latest Quaest poll.
In the coming days, the campaign is expected to intensify visits to other major administrative regions, maintaining a tone of accountability and presenting new guidelines for the next term. The focus on social issues and public safety will continue to be the main argument for attracting undecided voters in this final stretch.
