Candidate for Governor of the Federal District, Leandro Grass, announced a strategic plan focused on early childhood, with an emphasis on expanding public daycare centers and creating night care facilities.
Public policy for early childhood has become a central theme in the Federal District’s electoral debate. At an event held this Monday at Taguaparque, candidate Leandro Grass (PT) detailed his proposals aimed at restructuring support for the residents of Brasília, prioritizing access to integral education and creating support mechanisms for parents who work alternative hours.
Grass‘s project goes beyond the traditional education network, proposing an integration of education, health, and public safety. The intention is to combat social vulnerability in administrative regions with greater infrastructure needs, using the National Care Plan as a backbone to ensure children have safe environments and specialized support while their guardians are at work.
Innovation in Services: Care Facilities and Support Network
One of the highlights of the candidate’s platform is the implementation of night care facilities. The proposal aims to support workers with extended work hours who often struggle to find adequate places to leave their children, which currently hinders their ability to enter and remain in the formal job market.
Structuring policies for childhood is the quickest path to promoting balanced social development in the Federal District, ensuring that care does not become an obstacle to families’ income generation.
Health, Inclusion, and Community Infrastructure
The plan also includes a push in healthcare, with the systematic inclusion of pediatricians in the public network and strengthening services for children with disabilities or neurodivergences, the so-called atypical population. This measure seeks to alleviate the current system’s strain and ensure that diagnoses and follow-ups reach the peripheries of the DF.
In addition to education and health services, the proposal includes the revitalization of public spaces with the installation of playgrounds and community areas. The objective is to create an intersectoral protection network to combat violence against minors, transforming the urban environment into a more welcoming place for children.
The success of these measures will depend on the next government’s ability to articulate investments that connect family needs with the development of administrative regions. With the elections approaching, the early childhood theme is solidifying as a watershed moment, placing the well-being of the youngest as an essential pillar for the future of the federal capital.
