EDF Power Solutions Enhances Asset Management with New Operations Center in Brazil.

The pursuit of efficiency and security in the clean energy sector gains a new chapter with the initiative by EDF Power Solutions. The division of the French giant EDF, focused on generation and transmission, has just launched a strategic operations center in Brazil, an unprecedented milestone for the company in Latin America.

This new operational hub, named the System Operations Center (COS), is based in the Rio de Janeiro capital, Rio de Janeiro. Its primary function is the remote management and real-time monitoring of all company assets. The initiative aims to integrate the corporate strategic vision with operational execution, consolidating information and workflows.

Enhanced Efficiency and Security

The COS at EDF Power Solutions was designed to optimize the performance tracking of each generation and transmission unit. This centralization of data and control significantly contributes to mitigating operational risks, a crucial factor in an increasingly dynamic and complex energy market.

She emphasizes that the initiative brings more competitiveness and aligns corporate strategy more assertively with daily operations, in a scenario of growing challenges for the Brazilian electricity system.

Progressive Integration and Capacity Expansion

The structuring of the COS began in March of this year, with the completion of the integration of the photovoltaic plants in Pirapora, in Minas Gerais, a complex with 400 MWp of capacity. Since August, these facilities have been operating under the new remote management system.

Currently, the center also remotely manages the hydroelectric plants of Sinop (401.9 MW) and Dardanelos (261 MW), both located in Mato Grosso. With this, the total installed capacity under the COS‘s management already exceeds 1 GW.

EDF Power Solutions‘ future vision is ambitious: by the end of 2026, all of its own assets, including wind farms and transmission lines, will be integrated into the remote management system. This projected expansion will bring the company to a total of 2.1 GW of installed capacity under centralized control. In Brazil, EDF Power Solutions already holds approximately 2.1 GW of installed capacity in hydro, solar, and wind projects distributed across states such as Bahia, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Paraíba, demonstrating its robust clean energy portfolio in the country.
