Vestas, the renowned Danish manufacturer of wind energy solutions, has just unveiled its latest technological innovation to the world: the V182-7.2 MW turbine. This new equipment was meticulously designed to optimize energy capture in areas with low-to-medium wind speeds, a common scenario in several promising regions of Latin America. The official announcement took place during the prestigious WindEnergy Hamburg fair in Europe.

The new turbine is built upon the architecture of the renowned EnVentus™ platform, which already boasts over 15 GW of installed capacity and more than 2,000 units in operation globally. The V182-7.2 MW inherits the accumulated learning from Vestas‘ global fleet, incorporating targeted improvements in the rotor and transmission system.
Featuring a 182-meter rotor diameter and a 7.2 MW nominal power, the V182-7.2 MW turbine offers a significantly larger swept area compared to previous models. This translates to an increase of up to 2% in capacity factor compared to the V172-7.2 MW.
From a financial perspective, this enhanced operational efficiency directly reflects in the reduction of the levelized cost of energy (LCoE), increasing the net present value (NPV) and the internal rate of return (IRR) of projects.
