Volkswagen is relaunching its ID.4 SUV in the Brazilian market with a more powerful powertrain, increased range, and direct availability at dealerships to accelerate electrification.
The energy transition in Brazil’s automotive sector is gaining momentum with Volkswagen‘s strategy to reposition its flagship battery-powered SUV. The ID.4 returns to the country with upgraded technical specifications, marking a significant shift: the model is no longer limited to the Sign & Drive subscription service and is now available for direct purchase at physical dealerships.
The launch comes at a time of consolidation for the clean energy market and electric vehicles in the country. With the gradual expansion of charging infrastructure and strong consumer preference for SUVs, the German automaker aims to attract drivers who demand higher performance without compromising on sustainability.
Enhanced Performance and Powertrain
Under the hood, the main update to the electric SUV lies in the performance leap delivered by the new powertrain. The vehicle has received a significant boost of 82 horsepower, now reaching 286 horsepower and a robust torque of 545 Nm.
Energy efficiency has also been optimized, allowing the model to achieve a range of 389 kilometers on a single charge, according to Inmetro official guidelines. Beyond its mechanical power, the vehicle incorporates advanced comfort features and cutting-edge technology for drivers and passengers.
The advancement of infrastructure and the strong demand for SUVs create the ideal scenario for the expansion of our electrified lineup in the country, offering more range and advanced technology to drivers.
The technology package includes a 12.9-inch floating multimedia center, front seats equipped with massage and heating functions, a panoramic glass roof, and the sophisticated IQ.Light Matrix exterior lighting system. Regarding safety, the SUV features adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, a 360-degree surround-view system, and Park Assist Plus technology.
Market Landscape and Infrastructure
The relaunch of the ID.4 directly reflects the fast-paced transformation of the Brazilian automotive market. According to projections by the consulting firm Bright Consulting, SUVs accounted for 42.6% of domestic sales, while electrified vehicles now represent 22.9% of buyer preference.
At the same time, data from ABVE indicate that the national network of public and semi-public charging stations has surpassed 30,000 units across the country. This structural growth reduces range anxiety and paves the way for more consumers to adopt electric mobility for their daily commutes and long-distance travel.
