Ultracargo expands its storage capacity by 44,000 m³ at the Suape Port (PE), strengthening its logistical infrastructure and the transition to biofuels in the Northeast region.
Ultracargo has taken a decisive step toward bolstering the energy transition and the sustainable transition in Brazil by putting into operation the expansion of its terminal at the Suape Industrial and Port Complex in Ipojuca (PE). With an additional 44,000 m³ of liquid bulk storage capacity, the company significantly increases operational flexibility to meet the growing demand for fuels, biofuels, and chemical products at one of the country’s most strategic hubs.
This robust investment is perfectly aligned with the evolution of Brazil’s clean energy market and the gradual decarbonization of the transportation mix. The expansion not only optimizes receipt, storage, and dispatch but also consolidates the terminal’s role as a critical link for efficiency and energy security throughout the Brazilian Northeast.
Growth and Demand at Suape Port
The terminal’s performance reflects the region’s economic dynamism. In the first quarter of 2026, the liquid bulk segment moved an impressive 4.2 million tonnes at the Suape Port, marking a 43% increase compared to the same period last year.
This progress demonstrates the growing importance of the port complex for fuel logistics and derivatives, driven by local industries and coastal shipping.
The Ultracargo expansion arrives at a timely moment, as the pursuit of sustainable energy sources and biofuels gains traction. The new infrastructure ensures that the supply of clean energy and derivatives keeps pace with industrial development, maintaining safe and efficient operational stocks for the entire supply chain.
Logistics Integration and Future Vision
The terminal’s multimodal infrastructure links highways and industrial centers, also providing essential services such as direct marine fuel (bunker) supply. This connectivity ensures that the distribution of fuels and biofuels occurs with maximum efficiency, always prioritizing operational safety and reliability for Ultracargo customers.
Fulvius Tomelin, president of Ultracargo, highlighted:
“This expansion reflects our long‑term vision for the development of Brazil’s logistics infrastructure. By increasing Suape’s capacity, we create conditions to keep pace with our customers’ growth, strengthen strategic supply chains, and contribute to the competitiveness of the Northeast and Brazil.”
The consolidation of Porto de Suape as a national logistics hub is supported by data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), which shows historic records of B diesel and C gasoline consumption in the country.
As the sector moves toward more sustainable practices, initiatives like Ultracargo’s pave the way for a cleaner, safer, and more integrated energy future, strengthening the transition to a low‑carbon economy in Brazil.
