A new partnership between TTS Energia and GreenYellow is enabling the construction of a 2.5 MW solar plant for Misa Minerais in Ceará, utilizing advanced Grid Zero technology.
Brazil’s mining sector is gaining new momentum in sustainability with the announcement of a large-scale photovoltaic project in Limoeiro do Norte, Ceará.
The initiative is the result of a strategic collaboration between TTS Energia, responsible for engineering and execution, and the multinational GreenYellow Brasil, which is providing the financial backing for the Misa Minerais facility.
With investments around R$ 8 million, the project stands out not only for its 2.5 MW installed capacity but also for its use of the Energy as a Service (EaaS) model.
This format allows the mining company to transition to a clean energy matrix without the need for its own capital expenditure, accelerating the decarbonization of operations with a projected reduction of 156 tons of CO₂ per year.
High-Complexity Engineering and Intelligent Control
The facility, which will occupy an area of 29,000 square meters and feature approximately 3,500 solar modules, will operate under the Grid Zero concept.
Unlike conventional plants, the system is designed so that all energy produced is consumed by the plant itself, preventing the injection of surplus power into the local electrical grid.
To achieve this, TTS Energia will implement dynamic control that adjusts inverter performance in milliseconds, according to the miner’s demand fluctuations throughout the day.
Fernando Oliveira, Commercial Director at GreenYellow Brasil, stated:
By adjusting generation to the unit’s consumption, the model maximizes economic benefit for the client, avoiding the injection of surplus into the grid and associated proportional costs.
Robust Infrastructure for the Industrial Sector
The project goes beyond the installation of solar panels, involving an overhead dual-circuit network extending over one kilometer to integrate the plant with the operation’s two medium-voltage connection points.
This technical complexity demands rigorous monitoring and a cutting-edge electrical architecture to ensure the stability of the industrial load.
Jacques Hulshof, CEO of TTS Energia, stated:
We have two medium-voltage connection points, two transformers, and over a kilometer of overhead dual-circuit network. At the same time, the system must respond in real-time to load behavior to ensure grid zero operation. It is a project that combines scale, engineering complexity, and control technology.
The expectation is that the plant will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2027.
The success of this project could serve as a benchmark for other industries seeking energy efficiency and compliance with global emission targets, consolidating the EaaS model as one of the most effective pathways for the energy transition in Brazil’s productive sector.
