The Aneel transmission auction secured eight lots on B3, guaranteeing R$ 8.9 billion in investments and an average discount of 50.1% in the electric sector bidding.

The country’s energy sector saw a significant advance with the competition held at the B3 headquarters in São Paulo. The auction offered eight electrical infrastructure lots, resulting in the procurement of more than 1,800 kilometers of new lines.

With a total estimated investment of R$ 8.9 billion, the competition stood out for its average discount of 50.1% on the Annual Permitted Revenue (RAP). The projects cover seven Brazilian states and aim to strengthen the national transmission grid.

Modernization and consumer impact

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), led by Alexandre Silveira, the new structures bring operational security to the system. In addition to enabling clean flow, they prepare the grid for the advancement of artificial intelligence.

The high competitiveness shown on the São Paulo exchange is expected to translate into more balanced tariffs for the end consumer, reinforcing the leadership of the infrastructure sector.

“Transmission is the infrastructure that drives economic growth, the energy transition, and the reliability that the interconnected system needs. Investing in transmission goes far beyond expanding the grid. It is about continuously modernizing the system.”

The statement by Talita Porto, Executive President of the Brazilian Association of Energy Transmission Companies (Abrate), summarizes the strategic importance of the projects for the country’s energy future.

Next Steps and Approval

The process coordination was handled by the MME, with technical implementation led by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel).

Before the formal signing of the concession contracts, the winning consortia and companies must complete the technical and financial qualification stages, followed by the official approval of the tender by the regulatory agency.
