The 4th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro has ordered the official closure of the judicial recovery process for Americanas S.A. The court decision granted the company’s request after confirming that all targets of the plan, approved by a large majority of creditors, were fully met.
The conclusion of the process received positive endorsements from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judicial Administration. With the end of legal supervision, the company regains full autonomy over its financial and operational management, marking a new phase for the Brazilian retail sector.
Operational Advances and Restructuring
The retailer’s financial rebalancing was supported by significant improvements in its operations. In the first half of 2026, the company recorded a 9.3% increase in same-store sales, a direct result of its strategy focused on essential assortments and efficiency.
In addition to commercial performance, the company achieved an efficiency gain of R$ 500 million and increased productivity per square meter by 10.3%. The physical store network, comprising over 1,440 units nationwide, underwent an optimization process integrated with e-commerce.
This turning point strengthens our local physical operations and provides the necessary momentum to regain our brand’s relevance on the national stage.
Next Steps and Sustainability
Capital restructuring and the enhancement of corporate governance were fundamental pillars to ensure the brand’s long-term sustainability. With the closure of the legal process in Rio de Janeiro, management emphasizes that the focus now shifts to profitability.
The return to operational normalcy positively impacts the supply chain, customers, and shareholders. The company plans to consolidate its market presence by maintaining the financial rigor and logistical efficiency achieved during the restructuring period.
