A study by Webmotors Autoinsights reveals that battery range is the decisive factor for Brazilians investing more in electrified vehicles, outranking technology and comfort in the priority list.

The transition to sustainable mobility in Brazil is gaining momentum, but local consumer motivations reveal a pragmatic preference. According to a recent survey by Webmotors Autoinsights, the distance an electric or hybrid car can travel on a single charge is the primary justification for increasing one’s budget at the time of purchase.

For 62% of Brazilians who do not yet own a vehicle in this category, battery performance justifies a higher investment. This data puts range well ahead of other attractions, such as driver-assistance systems and cutting-edge sensors, mentioned by 39% of respondents, or even benefits related to maintenance costs and interior comfort.

The weight of price in purchase decisions

The study also mapped the spending capacity of the public. The vast majority of those interested plan to spend up to R$ 100,000 to enter the clean vehicle market, a segment that accounts for 47% of purchase intentions. Another 35% expect to spend between R$ 100,000 and R$ 150,000.

Among those who are already owners, the willingness to invest is higher, with 68% willing to pay up to R$ 200,000. Practical experience proves essential for converting interest into an actual sale, with physical contact with the product playing a prominent role.

“Test drives and a detailed look at the vehicle become the most effective emotional triggers for closing a deal, serving as the main drivers of conversion for those seeking more efficient and sustainable transportation.”

The power of practical experience

For those already driving an electrified model, the selection process was largely shaped by direct contact. The test drive established itself as the gateway to purchase for 35% of owners, while a quarter of respondents stated they were won over by the aesthetics and physical presence of the automobile.

The landscape points to an increasingly conscious market, where Brazilian consumers prioritize energy security and daily utility over technological superfluities. The success of eco-friendly vehicles in the country depends, therefore, less on disruptive innovations and more on solutions that ensure freedom of movement with reliable range.
