With the innovative SINapse project, ONS has reduced the operational communication time of the national power system by 98%, processing more than 3 million messages and ensuring faster decision-making for clean energy.

The National Electric System Operator (ONS) plays a vital role in coordinating and controlling the operation of power generation and transmission facilities across the country.

With the rapid expansion of renewable sources, especially solar and wind power plants, the power sector has demanded much more agile, structured, and integrated communication.

This evolution is essential to maintaining the stability of the Brazilian electrical system amid an increasingly dynamic energy matrix.

It was precisely from this challenging scenario that ONS invested in the creation of a modern integrated messaging system, named SINapse.

Born from studies and research conducted in partnership with industry agents and ANEEL, the project enables the exchange of structured operational messages between the operator and market agents, replacing older processes that relied on phone calls and less standardized manual workflows.

Innovation and Technology in Clean Energy

The technological solution was developed with the specialized support of AMcom, a benchmark company in corporate digital solutions.

Since its implementation in 2023, the platform has already recorded more than 3 million processed operational messages.

The result is impressive: processes that previously required significant time have become up to 20 times faster, generating a drastic 98% reduction in the total communication time of the national power system.

Currently, about 90 companies and more than 400 power plants use the tool to receive and respond to commands issued by ONS.

The technology enables the simultaneous dispatch of instructions to different plants, preserves a complete history of all interactions, and ensures real-time monitoring of ongoing requests.

More Security and Traceability for the Power Sector

In addition to boosting team productivity, the new platform has significantly enhanced the traceability of operations.

This facilitates the generation of precise evidence for audits and subsequent technical analyses.

The daily workflow has become more collaborative, reliable, and transparent, eliminating old bottlenecks and enabling the parallel execution of critical operational actions for the energy transition.

Rodrigo Strey, Vice President of AMcom, stated:

“We are talking about a sensitive operation that must function precisely, avoiding power outages or generation overloads, and which requires rapid responses to ensure the reliability of the national power system. SINapse was developed to meet the particularities of the Brazilian electric sector, allowing operational information to flow in a structured, secure, and auditable manner. This brings greater efficiency to operators’ daily routines and strengthens the response capacity against the growing challenges of the Brazilian energy matrix.”

Another major asset of SINapse is its seamless integration with platforms dedicated to renewable energy management.

Demands that previously depended on complex spreadsheets and phone calls now flow in an automated manner, providing absolute control over intermittent sources such as solar and wind.

Rodrigo Strey concludes:

“The power sector is experiencing a major transformation driven by the expansion of renewable sources and the need for increasingly fast decisions. Technology plays a fundamental role in this context, not only connecting systems but ensuring that the right data is available when needed. SINapse demonstrates how digital solutions can generate concrete gains in operational efficiency and contribute directly to the country’s energy security.”

The success of SINapse highlights how digital modernization is indispensable for the future of sustainability and the energy transition in the country.

As the share of intermittent sources continues to grow in the Brazilian electrical system matrix, relying on high-performance tools ensures not only operational efficiency but also the robustness and security of energy supply for the coming years.
