CTG Brasil has solidified its presence in the renewable sector by commissioning 648 MW of wind power in Paraíba, boosting the Northeast’s energy mix with 23 new plants.

The renewable energy sector in Brazil has just received a substantial boost with the commercial operation of the Serra da Palmeira wind complex. Located in Paraíba, the project, owned by CTG Brasil, received official approval from the National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) this Wednesday, cementing one of the largest recent investments in wind generation in the country.

Consisting of 23 generating units, the complex spans the municipalities of Picuí, Pedra Lavrada, Nova Palmeira, and Baraúna. The total installed capacity of 648 MW marks a strategic milestone for the company and for the expansion of the national electric grid, underscoring the importance of interior Paraíba in Brazil’s energy transition landscape.

Infrastructure and Strategic Incentives

Beyond generation gains, the energy infrastructure market also saw positive developments. The federal government, through the Secretariat of Energy Transition and Planning, granted Reidi (Special Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development) status to an Alupar transmission project.

The project, which involves Lot 7 of the July auction, calls for the construction of 345 kV underground transmission lines in São Paulo. With an estimated investment exceeding R$ 1 billion, the measure aims to reduce fiscal costs on the acquisition of essential goods and services.

“The program’s inclusion allows the suspension of levies such as PIS/Pasep and Cofins, ensuring that the cash flow for large‑scale infrastructure projects is preserved until 2031.”

Market Impact and Next Steps

The involvement of giants like CTG Brasil and Alupar signals an accelerated maturation pace for clean energy and transmission projects. For the grid, the entry of these plants provides greater energy security and diversification of the mix, especially important during periods of high demand for renewable sources.

While CTG Brazil celebrates the full operation of its complex, the market remains alert to new consortia and partnerships—such as the recent collaboration between Comerc Energia and Cedro e Cachoeira for solar energy exploration. These moves demonstrate that, whether through wind generation or transmission infrastructure, Brazil continues to attract capital focused on sustainability and operational efficiency in the electric sector.
