CPFL and Enel mobilize teams and suspend maintenance to ensure the electricity supply nationwide during the first round of the 2026 Elections.

The country’s leading energy utilities, CPFL Energia and Enel, have structured a robust logistical operation to ensure stability in the electricity supply during the first round of the 2026 Elections, scheduled by the TSE for October 4. The strategic planning includes the preventive suspension of grid interventions, constant meteorological monitoring, and the positioning of technical teams at strategic points.

The companies’ core objective is to mitigate any possibility of instability at polling stations and tallying centers. With the election demanding maximum reliability from the electricity sector, the companies have established direct communication lines with the Electoral Judiciary to ensure immediate response to any incidents during the decisive weekend.

Strategic actions in the state of São Paulo

In the regions served by CPFL group distributors, which include the brands CPFL Paulista, CPFL Piratininga, and CPFL Santa Cruz, over 4,000 polling stations have been mapped in detail. The company has ordered the temporary cancellation of scheduled load cutoffs in the vicinity of these electoral zones, in addition to relying on the technological support of the COI to track failures instantly.

To ensure the effectiveness of the operation, coordination with TRE-SP and Arsesp has been intensified, creating a priority channel for calls concerning the electrical system. The management’s stance was reinforced by CPFL Paulista executive Rafael Lazzaretti:

Rafael Lazzaretti stated:

CPFL Paulista will be mobilized throughout Sunday to respond swiftly to any incident that could affect polling stations. The teams will monitor the supply in real time and prioritize the electoral units in Campinas.

Enel’s multi-state operation

Enel‘s operations span three key states: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Ceará. In the São Paulo metropolitan area, the distributor will have a representative stationed directly at the TRE-SP headquarters to streamline decision-making. Simultaneously, mobile generators have been preventively positioned in priority locations, with a special focus on protecting the telecommunication networks that feed the election data transmission.

In Rio de Janeiro state, where the utility serves dozens of municipalities, more than 1,900 employees will be on special on-call duty, ranging from field technicians to electrical engineers. Meanwhile, in Ceará, the workforce has been strategically decentralized to allow rapid responses to unforeseen outages, combining operational efficiency with real-time weather monitoring.

The success of these operations reflects the utilities’ commitment to the country’s critical infrastructure, with preparations already accounting for the possibility of a runoff vote scheduled for late October. The integration between cutting-edge technology and human capital aims to ensure complete democratic normalcy throughout the entire voting process.
