On Wednesday, the 30th, the Federal Revenue Service released a new batch of income tax refunds, benefiting more than 412,000 taxpayers who have cleared their outstanding issues with the tax authorities.

The Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal) began payments today for the residual batch of tax refunds related to the September audit backlog.

The measure covers hundreds of thousands of citizens who have settled their accounts with the tax authority, including those with residual refunds accumulated from previous years.

In total, BRL 1.26 billion will be injected into the economy, benefiting 412,186 taxpayers.

A significant highlight of this batch is the focus on priority groups, who will collectively receive BRL 466.68 million, ensuring faster reimbursement for those legally entitled to it.

How to check and receive your credit

Information regarding the status of tax returns has been available since the 23rd.

To check if you are on the list for this batch, simply visit the official Federal Revenue Service website, navigate to the My Income Tax (Meu Imposto de Renda) section, and select the Check Refund option.

Verification can also be done through the agency’s official mobile app.

The funds are deposited automatically into the bank account or via the Pix key (CPF format) provided by the taxpayer when filing the original return.

If the credit is not received, the beneficiary should be aware of the necessary next steps to avoid the expiration of the claim period.

If the refund is not deposited into the informed account—for example, due to closed accounts—the amount remains available for redemption for one year through Banco do Brasil.

Procedures for pending issues

If, upon checking, the taxpayer notices they were not included, it is recommended to access the e-CAC (Virtual Taxpayer Service Center).

Through the tax return statement, it is possible to identify the specific error or inconsistency that caused the document to be flagged for audit.

Once the issue is identified, the citizen can submit a rectification return.

After the correction is processed by the system, the taxpayer will automatically be added to the queue for upcoming refund batches, provided there are no new irregularities.

For those who miss the one-year deadline for automatic redemption via Banco do Brasil, the funds are not lost.

The claimant must file a specific request through the e-CAC portal under the option Request refund not redeemed at the bank, ensuring that the funds are returned to the taxpayer’s personal accounts in a secure and audited manner.
