BNDES Approves R$ 300 Million Investment in Electrolux, Boosting Energy Efficiency and Artificial Intelligence in Home Appliances.

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has confirmed a substantial R$ 300 million financing for Electrolux‘s research, development, and innovation (R&D) plan in Brazil. This financial injection marks a significant milestone for the home appliance sector, with a clear focus on creating technologies that promote energy efficiency and the integration of artificial intelligence.

The initiative, approved under the BNDES Mais Inovação program, aims not only to modernize Electrolux‘s product line but also to establish new standards for sustainability and conscious consumption. The project underscores a commitment to technological innovation to meet the growing demand for more economical and environmentally responsible solutions in the Brazilian market.

BNDES reported that the developed innovations will be applied to a wide range of 26 new products. This list includes essential everyday items such as refrigerators, air conditioners, ovens, air fryers, coffee makers, water purifiers, vacuum cleaners, and even modern robotic vacuums. This broad scope demonstrates the investment’s cross-cutting impact on the availability of smart home appliances for consumers.

Research and development operations will be centered at Electrolux‘s R&D facility in Curitiba, Paraná. They will also receive strategic support from units located in São José dos Pinhais (PR) and Manaus (AM), forming a technological development network aimed at optimizing the manufacturing and implementation of these new solutions nationwide.

Boosting Efficiency and Artificial Intelligence

The core of this project lies in integrating artificial intelligence solutions for precise temperature and humidity control, alongside enhancing technologies to reduce energy consumption and maximize equipment efficiency. This is an ambitious step toward a future with more green and intelligent appliances.

For refrigerators, one of the project’s flagship products, a notable reduction of up to 40% in electricity consumption is expected. Furthermore, these appliances promise quieter operation, reducing noise levels by up to 4 decibels (dB), and extending the shelf life of stored food by an impressive 70%.
