AXIA Energia has finalized the initial stage of its robust modernization plan at the Tucuruí power plant, strengthening the stability and security of the National Interconnected System (SIN).

Brazil’s electrical infrastructure has received a significant technological boost. AXIA Energia has completed the first of eleven planned phases in its revitalization schedule for the Tucuruí Substation, located in the state of Pará. With a total investment projected at R$ 615 million, the project aims to raise efficiency and reliability standards at one of the country’s most strategic generation units.

In this inaugural phase, R$ 3.5 million was invested specifically in upgrading the transmission lines connected to generation units 7 and 8. The new control system introduces advanced real-time monitoring capabilities, allowing faults to be identified and addressed automatically and much more swiftly, minimizing the risk of power supply interruptions.

Technology and Operations

The success of this initial stage serves as the foundation for the upcoming phases, which include the installation of state-of-the-art regulators and high-performance auxiliary systems. The modernized infrastructure ensures that the SIN (National Interconnected System) operates with greater resilience in the face of growing energy demands.

Currently, the construction site at the hydroelectric complex employs approximately 165 professionals. This multidisciplinary team is working on implementing solutions that prepare the groundwork for the project’s full technological integration.

“The completion of this first phase represents a fundamental technical milestone, as it establishes the standard of precision necessary for future modernization phases to be executed with total operational safety for the Brazilian electricity sector.”

Looking to the Future

AXIA Energia‘s multi-million dollar investment reflects the importance of maintaining legacy assets in top condition through consistent investments in grid intelligence. The expectation is that, upon completion of all eleven phases, the Tucuruí plant will deliver optimized performance, reducing maintenance costs and increasing the availability of clean energy distributed to millions of Brazilians.

This project reaffirms the commitment to modernizing the electricity sector, transforming how Brazil manages its energy matrix and responding with greater speed to the needs of a market that is increasingly dependent on a robust and resilient grid.
