The National Electric Energy Agency has authorized an average rate increase of 3.16% on EDP São Paulo electricity bills, impacting more than 2 million consumer units starting this month.

Consumers in São Paulo served by EDP São Paulo will face changes in their monthly electricity bills.

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has approved the utility’s new annual tariff review, which takes effect on October 23.

The average authorized impact for all customers combined is 3.16%.

However, the exact percentage varies depending on the service category, requiring close attention from users in both the clean energy and conventional sectors throughout the state.

Differentiation by consumption classes

The tariff adjustment impacts customer service profiles differently.

For high-voltage connected customers, the average increase will be more significant, reaching 5.67%.

Conversely, low-voltage residential and commercial customers will see a more moderate increase, calculated at 2.09%.

In total, the distributor serves approximately 2.24 million consumer units across the state of São Paulo.

Adjustment composition and sector charges

According to Aneel board evaluation, the final index is the result of three main components.

The update of operational, transmission, distribution, and energy costs weighed in at 2.22%, while the inclusion of financial components added 5.21%.

On the other hand, the removal of values from the previous cycle provided a 4.27% relief.

Sector charges and the new dynamics of the CDE directly reflect operational costs passed on to society, demanding constant efficiency analysis and regulatory predictability.

Another pressure point was the charges related to System Services and Capacity Reserves, influenced by recent auctions.

Conversely, the reduction of Proinfa quotas and the early settlement of previous balances helped prevent an even higher increase in bills.

The tariff dynamics will now stabilize for the next twelve months, a period during which consumers will need to monitor their consumption in light of the new price level established by the regulatory agency.
