The 2027 Renault Kwid can travel up to 406 km on the road with ethanol, but fueling with gasoline gives a range 179 km higher per tank.

The national automotive market is turning its attention to the efficiency figures of the Renault Kwid 2027. With a starting price of R$ 82,790 for the entry-level Evolution version, the subcompact equipped with a 1.0 SCe three-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual gearbox reveals interesting data on cost per kilometer driven, splitting preference between gasoline and ethanol at fuel stations across the country.

According to official data from the PBEV table of Inmetro and the technical specifications released by Renault, the vehicle’s 38-liter tank delivers different performance depending on the fuel chosen. While the sugarcane-derived fuel requires more frequent stops, the financial savings at the end of the month still favor the biofuel in much of Brazil.

Performance at a glance

The hatchback’s range reflects a simple multiplication of the tank capacity by the fuel economy per liter. In the urban basin, the Kwid consumes 10.4 km/l with ethanol, yielding a range of 395 km. When fueled with gasoline, the economy jumps to 14.4 km/l in the city, allowing a distance of up to 547 km before the reserve is triggered.

On highways, the difference becomes even more pronounced. With the plant-based fuel, the model records 10.7 km/l, reaching 406 km per tank. With gasoline, consumption improves to 15.4 km/l, pushing the vehicle’s limit to 585 km — a 179 km advantage for the fossil fuel each full cycle.

Despite the lower range, the financial factor balances the scale. Based on surveys from the ANP, the cost to fill the tank with the renewable product is considerably cheaper, even though it requires more frequent refueling to cover long monthly distances.

On average nationwide, driving on ethanol reduces cost per kilometer and delivers real savings in the budget, even with the need for more frequent visits to the fuel station.

Cost per Kilometer and the Regional Landscape

The economic analysis shows that, nationwide, using biofuel is cost‑effective. To travel 1,000 kilometers on the highway, the expense for ethanol is about R$ 384, while gasoline costs roughly R$ 421. In urban traffic, the difference widens slightly in favor of the plant‑based option, resulting in a cost of R$ 395 versus R$ 450 for gasoline over the same distance.

However, viability varies by region due to station pricing. Because the economic efficiency threshold for the Kwid is 70.5%, states in the North, where the index exceeded that mark, begin to show financial advantages for gasoline. Conversely, markets in the Southeast and Central‑West maintain ethanol as the more advantageous choice for drivers’ wallets.

The model remains equipped with the Stop&Start system to optimize urban consumption, and it bears the CONPET energy‑efficiency seal. With a 290‑liter trunk and controlled CO₂ emissions, the Renault compact continues to serve as an affordable city vehicle, requiring only that consumers strategically calculate the ideal fuel for each travel routine.
