Spanish companies lead transmission auction with an average discount of 50.10%.

The second 2026 transmission auction, organized by the National Electricity Agency (Aneel), recorded a significant average discount of 50.10%. The event, held this Friday (October 30), set the contract for an Annual Allowed Revenue (RAP) of about R$ 811.1 million, representing a substantial savings compared to the ceiling of R$ 1.63 billion.

The strong participation and success of Spanish groups were the main highlights of the competition. Spanish-origin companies or those with Spanish shareholding control won seven of the eight lots offered, demonstrating the strength of these players in Brazil’s energy infrastructure sector.

Celeo Redes stands out with the largest investments

The Spanish Celeo Redes emerged as the top winner in terms of investment volume. The company secured two lots, totaling R$ 4.87 billion in planned investments.

Lot 4, the largest in the auction, was won by Celeo with a RAP of R$ 377.09 million, a discount of 50.55% from the maximum value. This ambitious project includes the installation of 1,167 kilometers of transmission lines in Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná, as well as 3,600 MVA of transformation capacity.

Celeo also secured lot 8 in Rondônia, with a discount of 48.02% and a RAP of R$ 66.664 million. The project in Rondônia involves R$ 753.18 million in investments for the installation of three synchronous compensators at the Porto Velho Collector Substation.

Cymi and Neoenergia also achieve notable wins

Cymi Construções succeeded in two lots, numbers 3 and 5, totaling R$ 2.05 billion in investments.

In lot 3, in São Paulo, the company offered the largest percentage reduction in the competition, a discount of 57.08%, with a RAP of R$ 78.70 million.

Lot 5, focused on the Greater Curitiba Metropolitan Area, was won by Cymi after a fierce verbal contest, with a RAP of R$ 96.4 million and a discount of 46.36%.

Neoenergia, controlled by the Spanish Iberdrola, also won two projects, with total investments of R$ 1.16 billion.

Perspectives and the future of power transmission

The auction, held on B3 in São Paulo, used the lowest RAP criterion. The licensed projects cover seven states, with a total of 1,866 kilometers of new transmission lines and the continuation of 483 kilometers of existing lines.

The contracts will last 30 years, and implementation timelines range from 42 to 60 months. Aneel estimates the creation of roughly 20,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, a significant impact on the local economy.

The outcome of this auction reinforces the attractiveness of Brazil’s energy sector for international investors and the consolidation of major players in the market.

The fierce competition and high discounts demonstrate the pursuit of efficiency and competitiveness in developing transmission infrastructure, essential for the security and expansion of the national electric system.
