Trinergy launches solar plant fund in Mato Grosso do Sul, featuring favorable net metering rules through 2045.
Trinergy, a renewable energy project development specialist operating in Brazil and Chile, has announced the sale of a portfolio of three operational photovoltaic solar plants in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Named Sun Invest III, the portfolio totals 9.1 MWp and operates under the Distributed Generation (GD I) framework.
A major highlight of this asset package is its eligibility for the transition framework established by Law No. 14,300/2022. This means the plants benefit from energy compensation rules that remain valid through 2045, subject to current regulatory conditions.
Asset Development and Management
Trinergy managed the entire development lifecycle of these projects, from initial conception to commercial operation. Following the construction phase—where Trivis acted as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor and manager—Trivis continues to handle the administration of the plants.
Pedro Ewing, CEO of Trinergy, emphasized the company’s strategy:
We developed these three projects from the early stages through to commercial operation. The sale represents the continuation of our strategy to create value throughout the development and implementation cycle of assets, while expanding our reach among corporate consumers.
Investor Attributes
The solar plants were developed through a co-investment with the Icafal group and commenced operations in the first half of 2026. Estimated annual generation for these parks is 19.7 GWh.
Watt Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor for this transaction. For Eduardo Tobias, partner at Watt Capital, the portfolio features key attributes for infrastructure investors.
Tobias noted:
Construction was financed through an issuance of 15-year tax-exempt debentures. The location of the plants also fosters operational and maintenance synergies.
The financing structure, utilizing tax-exempt debentures, offers an additional fiscal incentive for investors.
Expanding Trinergy’s Reach
Alongside the sale of this portfolio, Trinergy has focused on expanding its energy solutions for the corporate market. The company develops customized photovoltaic projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and self-generation structures tailored to each client’s specific consumption needs. This diversification reflects the company’s strategic move into new frontiers within the promising clean energy market.
