The Federal Government has launched a R$ 40 million call for proposals to support sustainable projects and infrastructure in the Xingu and Transamazônica regions, funded by resources from the Belo Monte power plant.

The Ministry of National Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) has officially opened a public call worth R$ 40 million.

The funding is intended to boost initiatives focused on sustainable socio-environmental growth in the Xingu and Transamazônica regions of Pará state.

The initiative is part of the Xingu Sub-regional Sustainable Development Plan (PDRSX) and will select proposals to be implemented during the 2026-2027 biennium.

Thematic pillars and funding categories

Submitted projects must fall into one of the five priority areas defined by the call.

The notice covers environmental management and land regularization, infrastructure, promotion of clean productive activities, basic social services, and guarantees for indigenous peoples and traditional communities.

Small-scale projects may receive up to R$ 300,000 each.

For interventions with greater territorial impact and structural character, the maximum support amount reaches R$ 2 million.

The regulations stipulate that at least 30% of the budget for each thematic line must be applied exclusively to smaller community projects.

Applications and funding sources

The competition is open to municipal governments, public agencies, and civil society organizations, which may apply individually or through partnerships and cooperative networks.

The proposal screening process will include rigorous stages of technical written evaluation and oral defense.

“The PDRSX has already mobilized over R$ 350 million and supported more than 400 initiatives in the areas of income generation, education, health, and the strengthening of local communities.”

The funding for this call originates from the concession obligations of the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Interested institutions have until November 30 to submit their proposals.

This new investment reinforces the commitment to reinvest energy sector compensations into environmental conservation and social development for the Amazon.
