PPSA has released the final tender for the federal government’s first natural gas auction, scheduled for October 22, allocating 1.1 million m³/day exclusively for the industrial market.
Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. has officially published the tender for its first auction aimed at selling natural gas resources owned by the federal government.
Scheduled for October 22, the commercial bidding process is expected to inject new momentum into the national energy sector by directing significant volumes to bolster Brazilian industry.
Under the leadership of Luiz Fernando Paroli, the state-owned company structured the offer to provide 1.1 million cubic meters per day starting in 2027.
The total volume has been divided into 110 individual lots of 10,000 cubic meters per day, ensuring strategic access for various production subsectors seeking energy competitiveness.
Segmentation by industrial sectors
To ensure balanced distribution, the bidding schedule has been divided into five sequential stages dedicated to specific segments.
The chemical and petrochemical sector leads the volume with 35 blocks, followed by the steel, metallurgical, and mining sectors with 32 lots.
The schedule also includes the ceramics sector with 20 lots, fertilizers with 13, and the glass industry with 10 fractions.
The quantity purchased by each participant will be strictly tied to the demand declared during the pre-qualification phase on the digital platform.
The changes implemented in the final document aim to increase competitiveness and provide greater operational predictability for future buyers of the energy resource.
Auction rules and operations
The CCEE electronic platform will host the remote event, while the physical delivery of the fuel will take place at the exit of the infrastructure operated by Petrobras at the Boaventura Energy Complex.
Winners will be responsible for arranging the transport of the product through logistics contracts regulated by the ANP.
Should any surplus remain after the initial rounds, PPSA plans to open new opportunities without volume restrictions per company, maintaining its focus on the sustainable development of Brazil’s industrial base.
