Prime Energy and Shell Energy Brasil have entered into an agreement to provide renewable energy via subscription to 68 AutoZone locations, securing an annual savings of R$ 1.4 million.

The clean energy market in Brazil has taken a significant step forward with the formalization of a new strategic partnership focused on the corporate sector. Prime Energy, a power trading company that integrates Shell Energy Brasil solutions, has taken over the electricity supply for 68 units of AutoZone, the global auto parts retail giant.

Implemented recently, the agreement covers nearly 40% of the more than 170 stores the chain maintains across the country. With a volume negotiated at approximately 423 MWh per month—equivalent to the consumption of 2,400 households—the initiative demonstrates how the energy subscription model is gaining traction among large retail chains seeking financial efficiency and sustainability.

Efficiency and reach in power supply

Managing the supply for dozens of branches spread across different regions is often a logistical challenge. However, the format adopted allowed for the integration of units located within the concession areas of distributors such as CPFL Paulista, Copel, Cemig, and Equatorial Goiás, without requiring construction or infrastructure investments at the stores.

The reduction in operating costs has already reached R$ 100,000 per month, totaling a projection of over R$ 1.4 million per year. For Prime Energy‘s Director of Customer Relations, Bianca Andrade, the project highlights the potential of this model for fragmented corporate portfolios.

“Operations with multiple units have significant potential for adopting solutions that combine energy efficiency and cost reduction. The partnership with AutoZone shows how a structured strategy generates relevant results even with stores spread across several regions.”

Sustainability and budget predictability

The system operates by injecting credits generated by renewable energy plants directly into the local utility grids. This results in an automatic discount on monthly bills, ensuring greater financial predictability for the company’s cash flow.

According to Alberto Nonato, Senior Manager of Construction and Maintenance at AutoZone Brasil, the initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to intelligent resource management.

Alberto Nonato stated:

“Efficient resource management is a priority for AutoZone, especially in an operation that is growing and expanding its presence in different regions of the country. The partnership with Prime Energy allows us to advance on this front, combining cost reduction, predictability, and a supply alternative based on renewable sources, without the need for infrastructure investments at the stores. It is an initiative that contributes to making our operation more efficient and aligned with our continuous pursuit of more sustainable practices.”

With this move, the Shell Energy ecosystem operated by Prime Energy further expands its presence, currently serving more than 40,000 corporate clients in segments ranging from retail to agribusiness. The trend is for more companies to adopt this model to meet environmental targets and protect their budgets against tariff volatility.
