BYD‘s direct sales have registered an impressive jump of nearly 500% in Brazil, solidifying the brand in fourth place in the overall automotive ranking in record time and boosting the fleet of electrified vehicles.

The speed of BYD‘s growth in Brazil takes on a new dimension when observed through the evolution of its direct sales. The year-over-year jump in registrations for this category reached nearly 500%, moving from 1,253 units in September 2025 to 7,263 units in September 2026. Looking at last month’s revenue, the increase is even higher at 900%, surging to 10,262 units.

Combined with retail performance, this surge in direct sales places the brand in fourth place in the overall market ranking in record time. This progress solidifies the transition of clean energy into everyday use, showing that sustainable mobility is no longer a future promise, but the preferred economic reality for thousands of Brazilian drivers.

Fábio Lage stated:

“Consumers already understand that electrification is not just a technological choice. It’s a decision that makes financial sense. When they weigh fuel savings, maintenance, and total cost of ownership, the advantage becomes very clear. And the numbers show this: in just one year, we multiplied our direct sales volume by almost ten. This is a behavioral shift happening very quickly, demonstrating the strength BYD has gained in the Brazilian market.”

Expansion Strategy and New Markets

The growth in direct sales, combined with retail performance, has consistently expanded BYD‘s presence in the Brazilian market and practically proves the results of the Small Business strategy implemented a year ago. Since then, the brand’s sales mix has undergone a profound transformation.

This movement was accompanied by new commercial initiatives, such as the Move Brasil program, which expanded sales of the brand’s strategic models to app-based drivers and taxi drivers. The initiative contributed to the growth of the BYD Dolphin and doubled sales of the BYD King, reinforcing the strategy’s impact on the expansion of clean energy in the national automotive sector.

The Historic Milestone of the Dolphin Mini

The brand’s growth also translates into expressive results for its individual models. In September, the BYD Dolphin Mini reached the podium of the Brazilian market for the first time. The compact electric hatchback recorded 9,385 registrations for the month, becoming the first 100% electric vehicle to reach the top 3 of the country’s overall ranking for cars and light commercial vehicles.

Alexandre Baldy stated:

“This is yet another memorable achievement for BYD and, especially, for the BYD Dolphin Mini, which has already made Brazilian history by helping transform the electric car from a distant dream into a reality that is increasingly present in the lives of Brazilians. An accessible, viable, technological, efficient, and more sustainable reality. Now, the Dolphin Mini writes another chapter in this story by becoming the third best-selling car in the country. This result shows how electrification is gaining ground and concretely becoming part of Brazilian mobility.”

Uncontested Leadership in Electrified Vehicles

BYD closed September with a 65.1% market share in the electric vehicle (BEV) segment. The brand registered 14,317 licensed units, maintaining uncontested leadership in the segment. This volume represents a share higher than the combined totals of its direct competitors, reinforcing the manufacturer’s position in the country.

The brand’s hegemony extends to the plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) segment. With a 39% market share, BYD registered 7,756 units. This result puts the company ahead of the combined market shares of the category’s second and third-place competitors, broadening the reach of the energy transition.

BYD‘s expressive advancement in Brazil highlights that society has definitively embraced sustainability combined with financial savings. With projections to continue expanding its infrastructure and portfolio over the coming years, the manufacturer reaffirms its commitment to shaping a future where clean transportation is accessible to the entire population, consolidating the country as a strategic global hub for clean energy.
