Grupo Pereira has finalized the acquisition of 21 Carrefour Bairro units for R$ 360 million, cementing its strategic expansion into São Paulo and the Federal District.
The Brazilian retail sector has just reached a major turning point. Led by Beto Pereira, Grupo Pereira has signed a multimillion-dollar agreement to incorporate 21 supermarkets previously operating under the Carrefour Bairro banner.
The investment, valued at R$ 360 million, marks a significant milestone for the company as it seeks to strengthen its geographic footprint and diversify its consumer touchpoints.
This transaction not only reshapes competitive dynamics within the market but also marks the debut of the Comper chain in São Paulo, where 15 of the stores will be converted.
Simultaneously, the group is reinforcing its presence in the Federal District, bringing its total to ten units in the region. The deal is currently pending review and approval by Cade (the Administrative Council for Economic Defense).
Strategic Growth and Diversification
Grupo Pereira, which ranks seventh in the 2025 Abras Ranking, demonstrated financial strength by recording R$ 17.53 billion in revenue last year.
The acquisition allows the company to balance its operations between the wholesale-retail model (atacarejo), represented by the Fort Atacadista brand, and traditional food retail, strengthening its resilience against varying demand profiles.
The expansion strategy aims to integrate the new assets into the company’s digital ecosystem, leveraging data intelligence tools and financial services to ensure an efficient transition focused on driving new customer engagement.
Connecting with the Consumer
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the group is focusing on converting the customer base through its loyalty ecosystem. The company plans to scale the use of its Vuon Card and Clube Mais program in these new markets.
By offering proprietary financial solutions and personalized promotions, Grupo Pereira expects to quickly capture the preference of consumers in both São Paulo and Brasília.
This step solidifies the chain’s trajectory of organic growth and acquisitions as it prepares for a new level of operations. The successful integration of these units will be key to the group’s financial performance in upcoming fiscal years, establishing the brand as one of the most dynamic players in the national retail industry.
