Ypê achieved a 31% reduction in its direct CO2 emissions in 2025. This performance, which secured the GHG Protocol Gold Seal for the fourth consecutive year, reaffirms the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
Ypê, a hygiene and cleaning industry giant present in over 96% of Brazilian households, has taken a decisive step in its decarbonization journey. In 2025, the company recorded a significant 31% drop in its direct greenhouse gas emissions, solidifying its leadership role in environmental responsibility in Brazil.
This performance was recognized with the Gold Seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program for the fourth consecutive year. The award, endorsed by the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, attests to the technical rigor and transparency in the collection and accounting of environmental data, fundamental pillars for any company seeking to align with global climate change mitigation goals.
Data Management and Corporate Transparency
Monitoring its inventory since 2012, the organization has refined its traceability and data collection processes. The strategy involves various fronts of the company, ensuring that impact measurement occurs with specialized technical support. For the company, the inventory is more than a report; it is a compass for strategic decision-making aimed at operational efficiency.
Gustavo de Souza, Research and Development and Sustainability director at Ypê, stated:
This achievement reinforces the consistency of the work we have been developing to improve the measurement and provide transparency for our emissions. This diagnosis is fundamental for us to understand the impact of our operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and guide our decisions based on data.
Advances in Scope 1 and Commitment to Renewable Energy
The 31% reduction in Scope 1 emissions reflects significant operational gains in several areas. Optimization in mobile combustion, related to fleets and equipment, showed a 39% decrease. In stationary combustion, used in generators and boilers, the reduction was 22%. Furthermore, effluent treatment — liquid waste from industrial plants — achieved a 59% optimization in emissions.
Regarding Scope 2, Ypê reaffirmed its commitment to clean energy. The company maintained 100% of its consumption covered by international I-REC certificates. This initiative guarantees the traceability of the renewable origin of the electricity used, moving away from reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to the national energy transition.
The Impact of the Climate Strategy
Gustavo de Souza added:
The results, especially the 31% reduction in Scope 1, demonstrate important advancements in this journey. We will continue investing in strengthening climate management and continuously striving for greater operational efficiency, mobilizing different areas of the company around this commitment.
The achievement of the Gold Seal reinforces Ypê‘s leading role in a market increasingly attentive to ESG practices. The company’s trajectory demonstrates that, through constant investments in innovation and rigorous monitoring, it is possible to balance high industrial performance with carbon footprint reduction, paving a more sustainable future for the consumer sector.
