Reports from the German newspaper Bild indicate that a man allegedly claimed responsibility for the attacks in a handwritten letter, even revealing his identity. However, the veracity and confirmation that he is the main perpetrator have not yet been established.
Police authorities in Cologne confirmed to Reuters that they are aware of the letter, but, along with RWE, opted not to disclose further details, given the delicate and ongoing nature of the investigation into the possible sabotage.
